Baby's First Baseball Game

Maura is from the east, JR is from the west. So when the Red Sox faced off against the Dodgers in a near-historic pre-season game we just had to go (we went to the game the day after the actual historic event). It was the perfect opportunity for Adrienne's first ballgame as well--and the chance for her to break in the pink Sox and Dodgers outfits we had purchased for her last season (yes, before she was even born).

The first questions was, "What to wear?" Her mom decided that it would be a Red Sox outfit first (with a Dodger hat). And if she pooped through that, then the Dodger outfit would be used as a backup.

During the ten-minute drive to the stadium, Adrienne said in no uncertain terms, "This Red Sox outfit is great...for me to poop on!" And she did just that--she blew right threw it before we parked the car.

After a quick change in the backseat, Adrienne was transformed into a full Angeleno and was ready to represent.

Adrienne was a champ and in a great mood the entire time. We stayed through the whole game--which is more than most Angelenos who like to clear out around the seventh inning.

She didn't quite grasp the concept of the seventh inning stretch. Instead, she took a third inning nap.

There were snacks to be had.

There were commemorative cups to chew on.

There were more pictures to take.

And, just like most of our adventures, it ended like this.

Not enough cuteness? See the whole day with the slide show above.

Our Little Tax Deduction

We thought that it would be totally hilarious to get a picture of Adrienne in her "Tax Deduction" bib at the H&R Block with our tax lady, Carol (who's been great for over 10 years, if you need someone on the west side). But after an hour-plus of doing our taxes (Adrienne clearly hates all of that math talk), and a somewhat shy tax preparer, the photo op was about as easy as, well, paying taxes.

But we made it happen and the pay-off was worth it.

Baby, Teeth

It's not the easiest thing getting a picture of these troublesome baby teeth. But after a little coaxing (and many failed attempts) Adrienne finally showed off her new mini-chompers.

Food and Drink

Before Adrienne surprise-gummed-attacked her cousin, she had a crack at some other solids: yummy, watered-down rice cereal. We basically spooned it into her mouth and then she let it fall out. In the end, she wore more than she ate, but it's a step in the right direction.

Dinner is served! Yeah, we would have spit it out also. It looked pretty gross.

Most of it ended up on her shirt and face.

Good thing she's cute...even with food all over her mug.

Adrienne is clearly way more into drinking than eating. Next up: sippy cups!

See the mess progress with a slide show of all delicious action. As you can see, we were obviously torturing her by trying to give her nourishment.

Introducing Adrienne "Kanye" Griffin (Plus, New Stats)

Because no baby blog is complete without pictures of its star in funny sunglasses, here is Adrienne in funny sunglasses doing her best Kanye West impersonation.

Oh, and the new baby stats are:

Height: 26 7/8 inches
Weight: 17 lbs., 4 oz.
Head Circumference: 17 3/8 inches

When Adrienne Attacks!

Easter weekend was quite a time for Adrienne. She ate her first solid food, drank water out of a cup and went for a ride in her new all-terrain stroller. More on all of that later. On Easter Sunday, a second baby photo shoot with Adrienne and her cousin Samantha went only slightly better than the first.

The play by play...

Aww, look at the cousins! How cute! How adorable! They're totally going to be BFFs when they grow up!

However, one baby seems more adorable tasting than the other as Adrienne, having a newfound taste for solid food, makes a play for Sam's head...

...and then she attacks! Adrienne goes all Hannibal Lecter, showing her affection for her BFF by gumming her head. Luckily for Sam, Adrienne only has one partial baby tooth to work with.

Before Adrienne could put her tooth to use, Samantha is rescued (well, right after we took more funny pictures, of course).

Baby and the Easter Bunny

So when we were at the Grove, we decided, rather impulsively, to get Adrienne's picture with a teenager in an Easter Bunny outfit. The staff was very nice and careful with Adrienne and took multiple shots to get the one you see here (others included a lot of sideways and archy back action).

Maybe it was the way she was dressed, but other things the staff said were: "Have him sit over here." "He's so cute." "He's such a good boy!" Okay, you get the, well, picture.

Seems like the Easter dress thing will have to wait until next year.

Baby, I'll Take You Down to Chinatown (or Little Tokyo)

We met up with our friends Nishith and Mina (and other new friends) at Honda-Ya in Little Tokyo. It wasn't Adrienne's first Asian dining experience, but it was certainly the most authentic yet. Some highlights:

Ready for solids--with chopsticks!

Checking out the mall market beforehand.

One day Adrienne hopes to become a samurai just like the guy in the poster.

Doing some window shopping and checking out the plastic food displays.

Adrienne even played nicely with Mina's friends and only snuck a little bit of chopstick paper in her mouth before we found out what she was up to.

One baby, ten toes, ultimate cuteness.

Adrienne, Trees, Peacocks

After a thrilling morning at the horse track we decided to actually be good parents and take Adrienne to the Los Angeles Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, where Adrienne got to add peacocks, bamboo and a waterfall to the list of things she's seen.

They let peacocks roam freely. It's anarchy, really.

Adrienne gets a feel for grass. Kinda likes it.

This is right before her mother let her little baby topple over face-first, cutely.

Adrienne liked this part of nature so much she tried to eat it.

She's not quite a tree-hugger (yet), more of a tree grabber.

Most trips end like this.

My Little Pony (or Inappropriate Adventures with Baby: The Horse Track)

Babies like ponies. Daddies like playing the ponies. So it was off to the races--and Adrienne's first trip to the Santa Anita horse track.

Horsing Around: We weren't going to let those big horsey chompers get close too our little one, but we had to go for the photo opportunity.

And they're at the gate!

Did I win? Sadly, no.

Getting caught up in the excitement of it all.

...Or not. Horses are only interesting for so long.

Adrienne counts her winnings/tax write-offs for the day.

Baby and the Beach

When we headed out to C&O for Maura's birthday dinner, we took the chance to introduce Adrienne to the Pacific Ocean. Our coastal baby was all about it.

...Touchdown in the sand...

...Gotta get the sunset pictures...

...Carrie introduced her to sea life...

...Off with her socks to really feel the sand between her toes...

...Then everyone's feet got in the picture...

...Our little family portrait (see how excited Adrienne looks?)...

...Then it was off to dinner...

...Where Adrienne enjoyed the gloriousness of the garlic knot (almost)...

Check out the slide show of the whole adventure.
